We went down to Albury this week to see how preparations for the Wiradjuri Ngurambanggu exhibition are coming along. While there we had a preview screening for some Elders and will have another screening with Elders on Tuesday.
The Wiradjuri language film Yindyamarra Yambuwan will premiere at the exhibition along with 3 new language animations, Useful Words and Phrases Part 1, featuring the voices and animated characters based on Dr Uncle Stan Grant and Aunty Betty Grant. Four animations of songs in Wiradjuri completed last year will also screen.
The natural environment is an interesting setting for seeing the film, as it features the landscape and animals of Wiradjuri country.
This will take place from the evening of Friday Oct 2nd on the giant video screen “MAMA SEE” on the wall of the building facing the park, when the whole precinct will be turned into a festival. The screenings will continue throughout October and November.
The Wiradjuri Ngurambanggu exhibition, and the opening of the MAMA gallery extensions, is a major regional event and will feature a number of exceptional Wiradjuri artists. It is an honour to be part of it. If you are passing through Albury over the next couple of months take an evening stroll in the park and check us out.
